Terms of service
These terms govern the use of BuddyBudget. By creating an account you declare that you have read and accept them. This is a translation of the Italian text, which is the binding version.
1. What BuddyBudget is
BuddyBudget is a personal finance application offered by Daniele Roccaforte, an individual (via Lancia 62, 10141 Torino (TO), Italia): it collects and organizes accounts, spending, investments, debts and pension to give you a picture of your net worth.
For now it is free and in beta: it may change, have errors or be interrupted, and there are no guaranteed service levels. If we introduce paid plans in the future, we will announce them in advance.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old and use the service for personal purposes, not for professional activity or to manage other people's data. You are responsible for keeping your access private and for the data you enter.
3. It is not financial, tax or pension advice
Calculations, estimates, simulations, charts, tax estimates, pension projections and comments on securities are for information only and are based on the data you enter and on simplified assumptions. They are not an investment recommendation or personalized advice, and BuddyBudget is not a financial intermediary. Tax and pension rules change and depend on your situation: before deciding, consult a qualified professional.
Market prices come from third-party sources, may be delayed or wrong and are end-of-day closes, not real-time quotes. The same goes for data received from banks through the Open Banking connections already active: it depends on the bank and on the connection provider.
The AI import produces automatically generated reading rules: check that the imported transactions match your documents. A sentence typed in «Cerca» (Search), read by the rules or by artificial intelligence, only fills in a form: check amount, date and account before saving it. Answers to questions in «Cerca» (Search) are computed on the data you entered or imported, say which period and which transactions they added up and may be incomplete: for your accounts, your bank's or broker's documents prevail. Categories set by the app (from your rules, from your bank's category in imported files or from the most certain suggestions, if you chose so) may be wrong: they are marked as set by the app, you can change them at any time and you are the one who checks that they are right.
Artificial intelligence requests go through OpenRouter only to providers that keep no data and don't use it for training (zero data retention, see the privacy policy); if none is available the feature doesn't answer and your data stays as it is.
4. How we ask you to use it
- Enter only data you have the right to use and connect only bank accounts you hold.
- Don't try to access other users' data, bypass technical limits or overload the service.
- Don't extract data from the service automatically with tools we don't provide, and don't use the service for unlawful activities.
- Don't upload files containing viruses or content that breaks the law or other people's rights.
5. Your data
The data you enter stays yours. You authorize us to process it only to provide the service, as explained in the privacy policy. You can export or delete it at any time from Settings. We make backups, but we recommend downloading an export now and then: we don't guarantee that every piece of data can always be recovered.
6. Source code and license
BuddyBudget's code is published under the GNU AGPL-3.0 license and you can use it under that license. These terms only govern the use of the service we run, not the license of the code.
7. Liability
The service is provided "as is", without guarantees of continuity or freedom from errors. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for financial decisions made on the basis of the information shown, for errors or delays in third-party data (banks, price providers, tax sources) or for indirect damages. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that the law doesn't allow to be excluded, nor the rights the law grants to consumers.
8. Suspension and closure
You can close the account whenever you want, from Settings. If you don't sign in for 90 days we close the account and delete the data: we warn you by email 7 days before, and a sign-in before that date cancels the deletion. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk, telling you when possible. We may also discontinue the service, with reasonable notice and time for you to export your data.
9. Changes to the terms
The version in force is the one of 2026-10-26. If they change substantially, we tell you in the app and ask you to accept again; if you don't accept, you can export your data and close the account.
10. Governing law, jurisdiction and contacts
Italian law applies, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence. If you act as a consumer, disputes go to the court of the place where you live or are domiciled; in all other cases the court of Turin has jurisdiction. For questions write to privacy@buddybudget.io.
